Google has just release a new beta version of its Google Maps Mobile application. One of the major new features is that it can roughly pinpoint your location by using the cell towers your phone is connected to.
The software operates similarly to the previous version of the Google Maps Mobile application. Although if you press zero key on your phone's keypad, a blue dot displays on the map representing your estimated location. This feature is known as 'My Location'.
The 'My Location' feature is not very accurate or meant as a replacement for GPS, but if your phone doesn't have this feature, its better then nothing. To get the new version of the software, go to http://www.google.com/gmm or send the word "BLUEDOT" to 33669.
